NEWS AND RECENT PROJECTS 

- MISS MEREDITH - 

Miss Meredith is the musician name of Chelsea Laverne. Meredith is an extraterrestrial alter ego through which Chelsea can be completely and musically herself. The music is funky and otherworldly and takes listeners to new worlds beyond Earth and sometimes to places in the core of the Earth where no human has ever been. Places where the alien and the unknown live.

Chelsea about Miss Meredith:

Escaping and the controversy of Earth is the main theme of the first 5 tracks of the album that will be released this year. It is a journey: In the beginning – frustration, chaos, searching for myself, wondering whether I want to leave, then in the middle finding myself, and after that actually departing into the unknown. Alongside this, there is an extraterrestrial oracle that sings to me on this journey: The Talkbox. The idea is to live-loop this from me with keys and talkbox with a backing track, live drums, extra keys and fat alien visuals. Besides Miss Meredith, I play with many different artists. My main role as a musician for hire is on keys in the Sven Hammond Bigband (known from “Matthijs gaat door”) and the Soundwise band led by Eric van Tijn. Now it is time to spread my wings and get to work on my own project. It is weird, spacey, jazzy, unexpected and funky, with today’s frustrations woven into the lyrics. The tracks have been ‘demo’ ready for a while and it is time to start climbing the stage: Welcome to the world of Miss Meredith.

TV SHOW BEST OF POP 2025

Together with the Soundwise band, Chelsea accompanied amazing artists in the 90s edition of the music show ‘Best of Pop’ on NPO1 last October. Chelsea was also invited to give a short mini-lecture on TV about synthesizers. 

The Wild North Sea Tour 2025/2026

In the autumn of 2025, the Wild North Sea tour kicked off. The Golden Calf-winning documentary about these spectacular waters. In The Wild North Sea, the stories, images and music of the most visited nature film of the past year come together. Composer Sven Figee, known among other things from Sven Hammond, performs the music live with his four-piece band: Tim Eijmaal (guitar and soundscapes), Leonard Besseling (cello) and Chelsea Laverne (synths). During the performance, Sven talks with professional diver and underwater cinematographer Peter van Rodijnen, who shares unique stories and anecdotes about the creation of the film and the music. The conversations are interspersed with impressive film footage that literally takes the audience beneath the waves. An evening full of captivating music, stunning images and special encounters with the makers of The Wild North Sea.

THE PASSION 25 YEARS 2025

Together with the amazing Soundwise band, Chelsea, this time at the piano, accompanied singer Do and singers Charlie Luske and Soy Kroon live on Eva Jinek.

TALENT UNPLUGGED SEASON 1  2025 

Chelsea could be seen every week together with the amazing Soundwise band as part of the house band of the new show Talent Unplugged on SBS 6 and heard weekly on Radio 538. An incredibly cool gig and wow: what talents!!! An awesome experience. 

Feeling Alright - SUMMER TOUR - SVEN HAMMOND BIGBAND + Royal Park Live 2025

Back on the road with the Sven Hammond Bigband with a big line-up of awesome artists including Typhoon and Shirma Rouse this past summer! More than 35 artists were accompanied in 10 shows across the country! An educational and special experience. 

Sing and Dance - 5 June 2025 - AHOY ROTTERDAM

Together with the Soundwise band and amazing artists, a day to remember was created for more than 6,000 kids during Sing and Dance in Ahoy Rotterdam. This is part of and an initiative by Meer Muziek in de Klas. Music is so important, especially for young kids. It supports development, creates connection and releases happiness hormones. There is so much excitement for this project. This was Sing and Dance last year in the Brabanthallen.

 North Sea Jazz 2023 Mainstage - The Sven Hammond Bigband and Guests

 Sven Hammond Bigband Plays Ray Charles - 2024 reprise TOUR 

Super excited to announce that in the fall we will once again be touring theaters with an insanely cool musical show: Sven Hammond Big Band plays Ray Charles. Ticket links are available via the schedule on the website www.svenhammond.com.  

- ZING! - Broadcaster EO - 

Chelsea, together with the Soundwise band led by Jelle van Leeuwen, accompanied the finale of the EO broadcasting program ‘Zing’. The episode was aired on July 15. See below the Soundwise band with Edsilia Rombley, Jamai Loman and Dwight Dissels. 

- Humble Heroes -

Chelsea is a Humble Hero! Together with the amazing musicians Guy Nikkels, Jermaine Kanbier and Camilla Alfieri, Chelsea was able to do a recording session at the beautiful Exalto studio in Haarlem for Humble Heroes. See the result below!
